Dr. Bernie Aleksey, DVM

Dr. Aleksey

Dr. Aleksey graduated from Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. She is a member of the veterinary honor society, PHI ZETA and was a recipient of the Valerie Bates Humanitarian Award. Prior to becoming a veterinarian Bernadette was a practicing Enrolled Actuary and an Associate of the Society of Actuaries. Her primary interests include internal and emergency medicine for small animals.

In mid 2011 she will also start practicing "holistic" veterinary medicine. Using a number of alternative theapies and take a general holistic approach to treatment in different alternative modalities, such as acupuncture, homeopathy, chiropractic, and botanical medicine.

Dr. Aleksey's most memorable experience from veterinary school was looking forward to palpating diary cows or castrating bulls in the middle of winter after trudging through a quarter mile of waist deep snow! To date, the most unusual pet treated was a rooster for a prolapsed cloaca!

Dr. Aleksey is married to her soul-mate (a lifelong Boston Redsox fan) and has two vivacious and gorgeous toddlers. She enjoys boating, traveling, and being home with her pets: Megan (Golden Retriever), Smokey & Raven & Sassy & Jingles (cats), Geo &, Gertie (Oberhasli goats), Fiona, & Isabella (Guinea Pigs), Captain Tuttle (the Russian Tortoise) and a wide variety of tropical fish.
